Hakka Village
Meet Karly, the second generation at Hakka Village. The vision of Hakka Village has been shaped by recipes, techniques and traditions developed through decades of experience in the food industry across China, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the UK. The Malaysian-Chinese concept has been passed down and perfected by the family behind Hakka Village, bringing generations of culinary experience together under one roof.
At the heart of Hakka Village is a feeling of warmth, comfort and home. Its food brings together the authentic and vibrant flavours of Malaysian hawker culture with the bold flavours of Southern Chinese cuisine, while adding a contemporary touch for the modern palate.
Every dish is cooked fresh to order, from Hakka Village’s signature crispy and juicy fried chicken, tossed in a choice of homemade sauces, to its rich and silky coconut laksa. Each dish is packed with flavour and made to be enjoyed together around the table or all to oneself.
Hakka Village brings together family, heritage and decades of culinary experience to create flavours that are distinctly its own. Elephant & Castle, are you ready to immerse yourself in the unique flavours of Hakka Village?
Fuego 1987
Meet Hamza, the founder behind Fuego 1987, bringing the heat and dynamic flavours of American-Mexican fusion street food. The brand’s name merges an homage to 1980s heritage design inspired by listening to “Timescorp 1983”, with “Fuego”, it means fire or flames, symbolising the energy he presents to the market. His core concept is straightforward, to build entirely on genuine passion and an unstoppable drive.
His culinary journey began in GCSE Food Tech, where encouragement from his teacher sparked a lifelong love for cooking. Starting out as a one-man band, Hamza mastered crafting top-tier tacos on the streets during London pop-ups. Today, supported by a dedicated team, he is ready to take up permanent residence at The Elephant Exchange.
One of the standout signature dishes is the UK’s TikTok-viral Birria Ramen. It features Shin ramen noodles immersed in a rich, slow-simmered beef birria consommé, topped with tender braised beef, melted cheese, fresh onion, coriander, and a squeeze of lime.
Because small details make all the difference, Hamza directly sources Guajillo, Ancho, and Árbol chillies from Mexican farmers. This ensures every taco, nacho, or bowl of ramen delivers deep, consistent flavour, highlighting a savory birria consommé cooked for over eight hours. The entire menu is halal, corn tacos are naturally gluten-free, and plant-based options like chilli non carne cater to vegetarian and vegan guests.
