Cookie policy
The cookies our website uses, what they do, and how to change your mind about them.
Last updated 29 October 2026
The short version
- We use a few cookies to make our website work and to remember your cookie choice.
- We only use analytics cookies (Google Analytics) if you say yes. They help us see how the site is used, so we can make it better.
- We don’t use advertising cookies.
- You can change your mind at any time using the “Change cookie settings” button on this page.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your phone, tablet or computer when you visit. They let the site remember things, such as whether you’ve already answered our cookie banner. Websites can also save information in your browser in similar ways, using “local storage” and “session storage”. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of these.
This policy covers theelephantexchange.co.uk, which is run by Blend Family Ltd. Our privacy policy explains how we look after any personal information cookies collect.
2. How we use them
We use two kinds of cookies:
- Necessary cookies make the website work, for example by remembering your cookie choice or letting the booking form load. The law lets us use these without asking, and you can’t switch them off on our website, though you can block them in your browser (some parts of the site may then stop working).
- Analytics cookies (called “Statistics” in our cookie banner) tell us how many people visit, which pages they look at and how they found us. We only use them if you agree, and nothing from Google Analytics runs until you do.
When you first visit, our cookie banner asks what you’re happy with. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, we treat that as a no to analytics cookies.
3. The cookies we use
Necessary
| Cookie | What it’s for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| cmplz_* | Set by Complianz, our cookie banner, to remember the choices you’ve made and which version of this policy you saw | 12 months |
| wp_consent_* | Set by the WP Consent API, a WordPress tool that passes your cookie choice on to the rest of our website | 30 days |
| dmn_bw_ | Set by DesignMyNight (local storage) on our Book a Table page, to load our venue details into the booking form | Until you clear your browser’s storage |
Analytics, only if you agree
| Cookie | What it’s for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart, using a random number rather than your name | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_* | Set by Google Analytics to keep track of your visit and the pages you view | Up to 2 years |
WordPress also has its own sign-in cookies, but these are only set on the page our team uses to sign in and manage the website.
4. Other companies’ cookies
Some parts of our website come from other companies, who may set their own cookies under their own policies:
- DesignMyNight runs our booking form. If you sign in to a DesignMyNight account or make a booking, it may set cookies to keep you signed in and complete your booking. See the DesignMyNight privacy notice.
- Google runs Google Analytics, if you agree to it. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- me&u runs our email sign-up form. It doesn’t set cookies, but your browser connects to its servers to load the form.
Links to other websites, such as Instagram, take you to sites with their own cookie policies.
5. Changing your settings
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Your new choice applies from then on.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. Each browser explains how: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. To stop Google Analytics on every website you visit, you can use Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
6. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we ever want to use a new kind of optional cookie, we’ll ask for your consent before using it.
7. Contact us
If you have a question about cookies or your information, email info@blend.family. Our privacy policy has our full contact details and explains your rights.
